Drop Everything And Read

Aylesbury UTC / About  / Curriculum Intent / Drop Everything And Read

Become a role model for our students

Firstly, the introduction of the Aylesbury UTC, Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) took place in September 2020. As a matter of fact, DEAR is exactly what it sounds like! It is a call to action for people to stop what they are doing to read a book for 15 minutes. In the second place, in the summer of 2021,  Aylesbury UTC has taken delivery of more than 300 new books to share with our students. As a result, the students are excited to have new material to Drop Everything and Read.

Furthermore, even if you are not a reader for any reason, it is a great opportunity to become a role model for our students’ young and enquiring minds. Importantly, there are so many reasons to get involved and improve literacy skills because research shows it impacts progress in education.

Given these points, regular Drop Everything and Read reduces stress and has a beneficial impact for mental wellbeing and happiness. As well as, it can help people relax and improves empathy.
