Work Experience

Work Experience

Work experience is one of Aylesbury UTC priorities for our students. In the first place we plan this within our AUTC Careers Programme. This maybe with our employer partners or other organisations.

  • In Sixth Form there is one day a week allocated in the timetable for work experience. In 2023 – 2024 academic year, this will be each Monday in the school timetable except for exam periods.
  • In Year 11 students can be granted time out of school to participate in the world of work when it is connected to either their specialism course or their future career pathway. This work experience is subject to behaviour and being up to date with all class work and assignments.
  • Our Year 10 students have a planned week for work experience in July . In 2024 these dates are 1st July to 5th July.

Overview
We have joined forces with Health Education England to bring students an Allied Health Professional online work-related learning programme. The programme will provide an overview of what a career as an allied health professional in one of the 15 different allied health professions can offer, as well as develop key skills for each profession. There’s also the opportunity to hear from NHS professionals, learn about their day to day work, as well as about the different areas of the allied health professions and complete assignments.

Upon completion, participants are awarded a certificate, which can be useful for CVs, Personal Statements and interviews. Alongside completing this programme, studying health and social care, social sciences or science subjects are good preparation for a career in health and social care. An awareness of the NHS core values and skills such as compassion, a desire to help and teamwork are also all essential.

The World of the NHS

Have you ever wondered what working for the NHS is really like? It’s a universal healthcare system that is crucial for treating patients and saving lives on a daily basis, but we often don’t fully understand what it’s like! This module will help with that – from introducing you to how the NHS is structured to introducing the core values and beliefs of the NHS, you’ll gain an insight into what it’s like to work in healthcare settings, and how it feels to truly make a difference!

Well done on completing this NOW….

Load this certificate onto Unifrog and add the WEX onto your CV.
