Bucks UTC At The Aylesbury Christmas Craft & Gift Fair

On Sunday 4th December, students of all year groups participated in Aylesbury’s Christmas Craft & Gift Fair. We are delighted to announce that the event was a tremendous success, with students receiving a fantastic response from the public and managing to make a decent profit which will go towards a good cause.

The Project

Students worked in House Groups to create a range of exciting, festive products to sell at the Aylesbury Christmas Craft & Gift Fair, in an all-school project with the intention of encouraging students to build on their team-work and business skills, all whilst raising funds to go towards a good cause – which is yet to be announced. Designs highlighted the skills and expertise of students from both Computing and Construction specialisms, with products including coat racks, vintage furniture pieces, 3D-printed decorations, candles, photo frames, home ware, a green-screen photography session and artwork.

The Big Day

The Christmas Craft & Gift Fair took place on Sunday 4th December with students taking shifts throughout the day with a range of roles, including setting up and taking down the stalls, assisting Aylesbury Town Centre Management in decorating the square, and selling products. Visitors were delighted with the range of items students had on sale and were also keen to learn how they were made. Children and adults were also engrossed with the interactive items on display, including a green-screen photography experience and a head-in-the-hole photoboard made by Level 2 Construction students featuring Mr and Mrs Clause, along with an elf!

Many products including the candles and decorative reindeer sold out. In addition, students were able to share their thoughts and ideas with fellow exhibitors in the Youth Section of the Christmas Fair, which included the likes of Young Enterprise and many other of Aylesbury’s secondary schools.
