Rackspace’s Digital Takeover Day with Bucks UTC
On Tuesday 13th December, leading cloud-management providers Rackspace provided a full-day seminar and workshop for Computing students of Bucks UTC, from all Year Groups.
The Seminars
The day began with an introduction from Rackspace employees James, Cameron, and Charlie, talking through the aspects that made their workplace special, such as the unique Rackspace culture, diversity and special focus they place on individuals’ strengths in the workplace. This was followed with an explanation of the unique services Rackspace provide across their Dedicated and Cloud Hosting platforms and how these help businesses in the information age where the success of an eCommerce platform is built upon employees with a great skillset and reliable IT infrastructure.

The Workshops
In the afternoon sessions, students had the opportunity to solve real world business problems by utilising Cloud technologies. After designing the solution, the team from Rackspace built what the students had designed demonstrating how easily and efficiently Cloud technologies can be used to achieve business objectives. Once built, the learners were then tasked to complete some basic management operations of Linux servers that were used to run a clustered web application.

Groups of students worked in groups with Rackspace leaders to participate in cloud-based activities.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to work with the dedicated and talented students and staff at Bucks UTC. We look forward to developing a strong partnership into the future as we work together to skill up the next generation of Cloud Engineers and IT Administrators”. – Cameron, Technical Manager, Rackspace UK
