Executive Principal Welcomes Green Paper

Last week saw the launch of the government’s long awaited industrial strategy, entitled ‘Building on Industrial Strategy’.

“I truly hope that this is not (yet another) false dawn and that vocational skills and learning are given parity in the secondary curriculum”, said Tony Withell.

With ’15 core skills’ being outlined at Levels 3, 4 and 5, including Bucks UTC’s specialist provision in Computing and Construction, the premise of high-quality programmes leading into an array of professions at either the age of 18 or after University, ties in with what the UTC aspires to deliver.

“Most of all, the possibility of UCAS-style advice and guidance to students is a massive step forward, particularly if maintenance awards are also linked to progression”, said Tony Withell.

The Green Paper is a step in the right direction to recognising what UTCs deliver!
