Bucks UTC’s newest employer partner given go-ahead for M56 work
Bucks UTC’s latest employer partner, Galliford Try, has been given the go-ahead to begin work on the M56 motorway after it was awarded a £67m contract in May 2018. Work is now set to begin and is estimated to end in March 2022.
Hard shoulders on a four-mile section of the M56 between junction 6 at Hale and junction 8 (Bowdon) will be turned into traffic lanes which will provide extra capacity on the roads. During peak traffic, installed sensors and message boards will be able to set speed restrictions.
Preparation began in the Spring by Highways England, where vegetation was cleared in the verges around the motorway. Work was originally delayed because of excessive roadworks and traffic disruption to motorists.
Galliford Try is one of the UK’s leading construction groups, working on some of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects.
