Bucks UTC Talks Positive Behaviour For National Anti-Bullying Week
Bucks UTC is delighted to announce its involvement with this year’s anti-bullying week, with an all-school presentation and discussion on the subject.
About Anti-Bullying Week
Anti-Bullying Week is coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and took place 14-18 November for 2016. The week shines a spotlight on bullying and is designed to encourage children, teachers and their parents to take action against bullying throughout the school year. The theme for 2016 was ‘Power for Good’ and it worked to highlight the following three aims:
- To support children and young people to use their ‘power for good’ – by understand the ways in which they are powerful and encouraging individual and collective action to stop bullying.
- To help parents and carers to use their ‘power for good’ – through supporting children with bullying-related issues and working with schools in order to prevent it.
- To encourage staff and youth workers to use their ‘power for good’ – by valuing the difference they can make in a child’s life, and taking individual and collective action to prevent bullying and create safe environments where children can thrive.
Student Participation
Learners were presented with a talk by the Head of Bucks UTC, Sarah Newall. In this, she discussed matters of how young people can take action against negative behaviours with regard to different types of bullying and their impact, how parents and carers can help and how staff and students can support and value differences in order to make our environment the safest place for a young person to gain an education.
