Go Construct
Go Construct is a website which has careers advice, information on different areas of the construction industry, stories of people who are currently working in construction and much more.
Their Career Explorer tool is great if you’re trying to find where you fit into the construction industry. They also have a page dedicated to different entry routes into those roles – well worth a read!

Institution of Civil Engineers
If you’re interested in Civil Engineering, the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has some great information on how to get into the profession.
Currently doing your GCSEs? Their study options page shows you how to progress through Level 3 qualifications and beyond.
Bucks UTC students studying construction may also be eligible for ICE student membership which comes with various benefits (for free).
National Careers Service
The National Careers Service (NCS) has over 75 job profiles relating to construction and the trades, each including things like the average salary, what the role entails, career progression and current opportunities which you might be interested in.
They also have very useful pages dedicated to careers advice which are great if you’re looking to join the workforce.
BAM Construct – Work Experience
Although it’s not quite careers advice, if you’re interested in getting a taste of what it’s like to work in the construction industry, our employer partners are a great place to start.
BAM allows you to register your interest online through a form. If you’re a student at Bucks UTC, other opportunities will be accessible throughout the year from BAM and our other specialist employers.
If you wish to explore the industry of computing or building studies and take on our specialist employer-led courses, a plethora of options are available. At Bucks UTC, alongside a core curriculum at Year 10 and 11, you will undertake a specialist diploma in your chosen area of interest. At Year 12 and 13 you will get the chance to work in many different companies whilst undertaking a course of study which will open up all of the routes you might wish to consider.
